sustainable sourcing
Basic Concept
Itoki will create value that contributes to solving social issues through collaboration with various stakeholders, including suppliers and distributors, throughout the value chain, from research and development to procurement, production and disposal.
Procurement policy
The Itoki Group has formulated a procurement policy to work toward sustainable procurement from the development stage of products and services, while also considering the working environment and respecting human rights of its suppliers, in order to reduce environmental impact and protect biodiversity. We are also working on green procurement in accordance with this policy.
Promoting sustainable procurement
The Itoki Group is promoting sustainable procurement with the aim of building a responsible supply chain. In 2019, we created a sustainable procurement guidebook that specifies matters such as human rights, labor, safety and health, the environment, quality, information security, and business continuity. We distributed it to our business partners and asked for their cooperation, and in order to understand the penetration status, we have been conducting procurement surveys since 2019. We divide our major business partners into three categories and conduct surveys on one category each year, rotating them every three years.
Goals and achievements
Itoki requested a procurement survey of 153 suppliers, and 141 companies responded. The suppliers requested are not only the top suppliers in terms of procurement amount, but also include important suppliers who undertake painting and wood processing. Although the actual result was only 80.3%, compared to the target of 85% or more, no suppliers were identified as being at high risk. Regarding suppliers of group companies, a procurement survey was conducted for the first time in three years, and 250 companies responded.
Going forward, the entire Itoki Group will continue to promote sustainable procurement.
Specific initiatives
Policy Briefing
At the beginning of each fiscal year, we hold a "Supplier Policy Briefing" for major business partners. Through explanations of Itoki's policies, factory tours, and social gatherings, we deepen mutual understanding.
Additionally, we hold a joint presentation with group companies every year to raise quality awareness among our business partners.
Partnership building declaration
We have announced a partnership building declaration for 2023. Based on this, we will also begin new initiatives such as supporting the working environment of our business partners.
Future tasks
In recent years, the degree of sustainability initiatives varies from one supplier to another, including information security, which has become a growing risk, and business and human rights. Going forward, we are considering providing appropriate support to our suppliers, such as by holding study sessions and setting up consultation desks.
