Accelerating business transformation with new ways of working that foster active cross-departmental interaction
NIKKI-UNIVERSAL CO., LTD. which contributes to creating an environment that we can be proud of for the future with its catalyst technology with infinite possibilities, has decided to completely renovate its head office, which it has occupied for 30 years, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations in 2023. The new office, which consolidates previously separate work areas into one, is an environment that focuses on well-being, allowing employees to work in a healthy state of mind and body, and allows them to continue working stress-free and with pride.

The warmth of wood and greenery welcomes guests in the reception and visitor area. The work lounge and visitor conference room are separated by glass walls, giving the space a sense of spaciousness.

The eight conference rooms within the company are named after plants, such as "Mikan" (Citrus tangerine), "Sumire" (Violet flower) and "Tsuyukusa," based on the motif of "harmony with nature," which is also the company slogan.

The cafe area is decorated with calming colors, with flooring that resembles the surface of a river and flooring. The drop ceiling above the counter and plants add variety to the space, and the large wooden table in the center of the area, with its comfortable warmth, encourages communication.

The administrative department space uses assigned seats. The number of seats in the office has been increased to about 150% in anticipation of future increases, and each employee has their own desk plus additional workspace.

This was the first large-scale renovation since we moved into this office. We didn't even know how to proceed with the project, but we received a variety of support from design to construction. That sense of trust and security never wavered until the very end. I think it was the persuasiveness of the work style that Itoki practices in-house, and their wealth of ideas that led to this wonderful office.
Thanks to your support, the new office has been well received both inside and outside the company, and has even been featured in theNIKKI-UNIVERSAL CO., LTD. Group's newsletter. In addition, new ways of working have gradually taken hold, and communication between departments has become much more active. We hope to use this office as a starting point to work on ways of working that are appropriate for the age of diversity and where everyone can work without stress.

This project involved renovating an office that had been untouched since it was first occupied, without the occupants even leaving the building.
I think it was a huge challenge for the employees to consolidate the offices, which were separated even on the same floor, and to drastically rethink the working environment and working style. After many discussions, we took a step forward together and were able to create a comfortable space with a sense of unity and ease of communication.
We hope that an office where employees can continue to work in their own way and with pride will generate new "chemical reactions" between people.
