Prospects for revitalizing the local economy through total design of space, operation, and management
A full-scale incubation facility

FUKUMACHI BLOCK is a complex that opened in front of JR Fukui Station in March 2024. In August of the same year, Echigo Valley by BBR opened on one floor of the facility. It was created by Kenichi Fujinaga, CEO of Genky Drug Stores Co., Ltd., a drugstore chain that operates in the Tokai-Hokuriku area. For over 15 years, Fujinaga has presided over the BBR Management Academy, a study group for young managers. Based on that vision, this is a full-scale incubation facility that will create companies and entrepreneurs who will be responsible for revitalizing the economy of Fukui Prefecture.

This was our first attempt at building an incubation facility, and it was a valuable experience to collaborate with highly specialized members, including Itoki, who has a track record in designing a variety of facilities. We are very pleased that Itoki designed a sophisticated space for us.

In addition, as a coordinator and liaison between the various companies involved, they provided appropriate responses and advice to problems that arose on a daily basis on-site and to equipment-related issues. We still meet weekly to update the management and operational aspects of the facility to make it more appealing and convenient. We look forward to continuing to work together as partners in the development of the facility.

In this project, in response to the owner's request to "build an incubation facility in Fukui and produce entrepreneurs who will lead the future," we were able to utilize the knowledge and experience of local companies and the ITOKI Group to consider a variety of issues, from market research, planning, design, and operational support, and create the facility.

This project only started after the facility was opened, and as the local community uses it and creates interaction and vitality, the "Echigo Valley identity" is created. It was a very rewarding project to be able to play a part in such a valuable project.
