The entrance space is fitted with a "Kasumi Wall" that expresses the painting technique of "Suzurihasumi" from the design motif "Rakuchu Rakugaizu." The layered wall is made of woven stainless steel mesh, creating a hazy visual effect that creates anticipation for the facility.

The overhead of Meet-Up Square is lit by "kasumi lighting," which creates a hazy scene with trailing lines of light.

"Kasumi Glass" features graphics applied to glass walls in various locations. The shape is a trace of the traditional Suyari Kasumi shape, but is expressed as a collection of single lines like bit signals, and by changing the overlap and density of the front and back, the transparency can be controlled according to the secrecy of the area.

"Kasumi color" expresses the "slow mist"

The grey tone that governs the main colour scheme of the entire facility was set to "haze colour". Numerous photographs of haze were digitally processed to generate the grey gradations.

Hitachi, Ltd.
Shinichiro Fukushima, Lumada CoE
Itoki has participated in the creation of important collaborative spaces for Hitachi in the past, and has an extremely deep understanding of how Hitachi views collaborative creation. This time, too, we asked them to participate from the start, as they are an absolutely essential member for the creation of our flagship collaborative space.
Immediately after the start of the collaborative space creation project, the COVID-19 pandemic spread rapidly, and it was an extremely difficult situation to move forward with a large-scale project, with major changes to the concept to accommodate online collaborative creation and severe restrictions on face-to-face meetings. Even in these circumstances, they never compromised on the consideration of each additional facility to realize the changed concept, and they thoroughly discussed and considered things together until the very end, strictly adhering to the deadline and providing us with a number of convincing proposals.
The co-creation space opened as scheduled in April 2021, and since then it has seen many more visitors than originally planned, with the co-creation space itself receiving extremely high praise.

Lumada Innovation Hub Tokyo is a place to accelerate DX projects with Hitachi's customers, and to realize working styles that adapt to changes in the world, where we hold extensive discussions on projects and design unprecedented initiatives and mechanisms.
The concept of the Rakuchu Rakugaizu (map of the city within and around Kyoto) is symbolically incorporated into the spatial design, creating a collaborative space for a new era where hybrid collaborative activities that combine online and real life, an environment where people can gather in peace, and mechanisms that the project members did not compromise on, with careful consideration given to even the smallest details of the design.
