Environmental Initiatives

The Itoki Group has set the "ITOKI Ecosystem Initiative toward 2050 - Coexistence with Nature" and is contributing to the realization of a society with zero negative impact on ecosystems by 2050. With regard to "responding to climate change," the Group is working to achieve the 2030 greenhouse gas emission reduction target certified by SBTi*1, and with regard to "promoting resource circulation" and "responding to biodiversity," the Group is working to achieve the 2030 targets through CDP*2 disclosure. To steadily advance these initiatives, the Group manages annual targets in its medium-term environmental plan.

  1. SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative): Supports companies in setting science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets
    International Framework
  2. CDP: An international non-profit organization that discloses and evaluates environmental information from companies and local governments.
  3. TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure): Companies should consider the risks and opportunities that climate change poses to their own companies.
International framework encouraging disclosure of impacts

Environmental policy

The Itoki Group has established the "Itoki Group Environmental Policy" and specific "Action Guidelines" that serve as guidelines for all environmental activities, and shares these with the entire group and suppliers as we engage in environmental conservation activities.

Initiatives so far

Since obtaining ISO14001 certification in 1998, Itoki has continued to develop environmental activities, such as promoting modal shifts and introducing solutions that utilize local materials. We will continue to promote creative initiatives in the future.

Itoki's past initiatives

external initiatives

The Itoki Group is actively participating in initiatives related to climate change and resource circulation. Through participation in these initiatives, such as declaring support for the TCFD recommendations, responding to CDP, obtaining SBTi certification, and endorsing the Joint Climate Initiative (JCI), we are promoting climate change countermeasures and striving to further enhance information disclosure.

Itoki Group's Medium-Term Environmental Plan 2026

In the three-year Mid-term Environmental Plan 2026, we will monitor items where we expect a certain level of effectiveness, set targeted goals, and steadily work toward them. Our goal for reducing CO2 emissions in 2026 is to achieve 50% of the 2030 goal. For other items, we have set goals and indicators based on reduction performance over the past five years.

environmental management system

We are promoting environmental activities with the participation of all employees by linking the PDCA cycles of each headquarters and group company with the PDCA cycle of the entire Itoki Group. This allows us to work on improving environmental performance and complying with laws and regulations, while also continually evaluating and improving the activities of each organization through internal audits and external inspections.
We are steadily reducing environmental risks and strengthening compliance, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

CASE STUDY: Product development after inspecting a processing facility

Inspection of the treatment facility

The product development department inspects product processing facilities to understand the "ease of recycling" of each part. This knowledge is then used to develop products that use parts that are easier to recycle. This type of PDCA initiative, which was praised as a good example in an external ISO14001 audit, is helping us to further enhance our environmentally conscious efforts.
