By creating an open laboratory, we are transforming into cross-sectional research that goes beyond the boundaries of the laboratory. A one-of-a-kind research facility that takes on the world.
The Center for Energy Conversion Electronics (C-TECs) is a gallium nitride research and development center headed by Nagoya University Professor Hiroshi Amano, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2014.
At C-TECs, an environment has been created to promote cross-disciplinary research beyond the boundaries of laboratories. The facility environment, which aims to be a unique research facility that can compete with the world, led to it becoming the first national university corporation to receive the Nikkei New Office Promotion Award at the Nikkei New Office Awards.

Seminars and open seminars are held on the grand staircase connecting the 4th to 6th floors. A projector screen is also installed. Normally, the original L-shaped sofa is used for small meetings. Behind the grand staircase is the office space on the 5th floor. The entire floor is a large space with no partitions, and faculty, researchers, and students from each laboratory work without borders.

The classroom employs hot desking, allowing students and faculty to mingle and engage in activities together. The original "Snake Tables" can be freely combined depending on the type of activity.

C-TECs has built a research environment that overcomes the challenges unique to national university corporations. The limited budget and short review period of three months were major challenges. Since there is not enough room in terms of area, the space is flexible. For this purpose, many of the furniture and fixtures were originally manufactured, and Itoki was responsible for producing many of the key pieces of furniture, including the snake table in the office space and the L-shaped sofa on the grand staircase. They also responded flexibly by coordinating products other than their own. The sales staff responded with great tenacity, and we were able to make our wishes a reality.

Through repeated prototyping and discussions, we created a space filled with the thoughts and ideas of the enthusiastic faculty working group.
We have built an open and creative research facility.
