“Biophilic design” creates a comfortable space where you can feel nature.
A medical examination facility designed for ease of use.
Genki Plaza Medical Center For Health Care whose philosophy is to contribute to the health of the mind and body through comprehensive medical checkups and health checkups.
The hospital moved from Iidabashi to Jimbocho in April 2020.
Based on the basic concepts of "efficient zoning," "architectural planning that earns peace of mind and trust," and "facilities that can accommodate growth and change," it is "people-friendly" and takes into account the patient's perspective and the staff's ease of working. The facility was realized.

The reception area is a symbol of biophilic design, with an image of a space that is integrated with nature. Patients are welcomed comfortably by the bold green wall, wooden counter, and flooring that resembles the earth.

A stone-like design inspired by nature. The ceiling and walls have a curved form that gives a gentle impression.

The passageway and waiting area were gently separated by partitioning stone-like tiles. The soft indirect lighting and folded ceiling create a sense of spaciousness. The warm colors ease the stress of waiting.

VIP waiting area

There are three VIP waiting rooms, each with a different interior. With biophilic colors and wall cloths, you can spend a peaceful time here.

Add desaturated pink to the bright and warm interior. The waiting space set up in the middle of the aisle is not only used for waiting time, but also has the effect of easing the monotony of the hallway. The leaf-shaped guide sign is set at a size and height that is easy to catch the eye, and patients are smoothly guided to the next examination room. In the back of the photo is a sway zone separated by a curtain.

Directing light in a way that doesn't make a long hallway feel monotonous. Indirect lighting is installed behind the chairs, and the pin spots that fall on the doors of each room use glareless lighting where the light source cannot be seen.

The men's health checkup zone has a different image from the women's health checkup zone, with a calm color base and cool blue accents. Coupled with the plant graphics on the walls, the space creates a relaxing atmosphere.

The corridor-type flow line improves staff work efficiency, and patients also say it has shortened waiting times. Additionally, medical facilities tend to give the impression of being all white and cold, but I feel that the "biophilic" concept has created a comfortable space for patients. Itoki carefully accumulated each item one by one, including visiting our hospital many times to confirm the current equipment and conducting interviews with each clinical department. They proposed a specific design that met our space requirements and the legal restrictions specific to medical facilities.
Comment
It was a difficult task to create a medical examination area (including large equipment such as MRI and CT), an outpatient area, and an examination area in an office building subject to the Evacuation Safety Verification Act, but Yamashita PMC Inc., TANSEISHA Co.,Ltd, and various medical device manufacturers completed the task. Through close communication with all parties involved, we were able to successfully complete the project.
The facility is designed to prevent men and women from mingling after changing into medical examination clothes.
In addition, in order to shorten the waiting time for health checkers, the facility has been designed with various considerations, such as various ICT equipment and a concierge, so we hope you will take advantage of it.

This relocation project is a rare property in which a health checkup center will be built as a tenant in a large office building, and as there are a wide range of equipment and construction adjustments to be made, we worked with TANSEISHA Co.,Ltd on the design.
Visitors to the health checkup center often come with feelings of depression or anxiety. Although this facility is located in the city center, it has a spacious space where you can feel nature such as plants and light. Although the facility is not large by any means, its careful planning and layout creates a sense of spaciousness without being crowded, making it a comfortable place for not only visitors but also staff.
From now on, I have been involved with the hope of becoming a health checkup center that will be even more appreciated and chosen by users than before the move.
