Innovation to the office that “creates value as a team”
Benesse Corporation, which is part of the Benesse Group, which operates a wide range of fields including education, nursing care, childcare, and language learning, handles correspondence education and publishing businesses such as Shinkenzemi and Kodomo Challenge. Itoki provided total support for the company's complete renewal project at its Tokyo headquarters (Tama City), from concept formulation and other consulting to project management, layout planning, and fixtures. In response to drastic changes in attendance rates and work styles due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have completed a large-scale renovation to create an office that "creates value as a team."

Team build space
Team build space
A space with an open ceiling on two floors that encourages active team activities. Before the renovation, it was a ``large conference room'' where company-wide meetings such as morning assemblies were held. This space was named ``Miracomo'' (=Future Commons) through an internal recruitment process within the company.

Itoki designers also created the tapestries that decorate the space. The contents of the materiality are based on the company's activity policy, the Sustainability Vision.

Tea room

Meeting space "tea room". Like ``Miracomo,'' the unique name was created through an internal recruitment process within the company, with the idea of allowing discussion to take place regardless of one's position.

Office Space
Office Space
The office space has two tastes based on discussions with the resident members. This is a ``Tsumugu'' style with a calm color carpet and black as the base color, giving you a warm feeling.

This is a ``soft'' style that gives a soft impression with bright carpet and white as the base color.

Cafe space “Fratto Cafe”
Cafe space “Fratto Cafe”
A cafe space offering authentic coffee and more. As the name suggests, it is a place where you can just drop by, and it is popular not only for its function as a cafeteria, but also for when you want to take a break or have a meeting in a relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen is located in the center, and the north and south sides offer different tastes.

South side with impressive bright yellow walls. The design reflects the company's desire for children, who are also the company's users, to enjoy a bright, high-quality space when they visit the company.

This is a space on the north side with a calm tone. Another reason for its popularity is that you can use it differently depending on your preference and mood.

Star Dome Kids Space
Star Dome Kids Space
A kids space attached to the planetarium "Star Dome" on the top floor. Itoki is also in charge of planning and producing the puzzles on the wall. We paid special attention to the size and texture of the pieces so that young children could play with them safely.

Web conference box

A private room for web conferencing was established based on the needs of workers. As expected, demand is high and utilization rates are high.

As this was a large-scale renewal in response to drastic changes in work styles due to the coronavirus pandemic, we started with no idea how we would proceed, but I was very encouraged by the guidance he provided with various analyzes, consulting, and proposals. I did. They always take my issues seriously and give me strength. The teamwork of the team members was excellent during the project, and despite the tight construction schedule, the project was completed within budget and on schedule. The completed office has a very high level of satisfaction from workers, and we are successfully implementing a hybrid work system that combines work from home and office work.

As a space that would realize a new work style, the layout and design taste were decided after hearing from the people in the occupying departments. Each hurdle was overcome to realize an office that would "create value as a team."
The project members worked very closely together, and we were inspired by the enthusiasm of the company's staff as we moved forward. Another feature of this project is that we were involved in a wide range of design production, including the "Star Dome" kids' space and a tapestry that expresses the company's vision. We look forward to seeing this office, which was born after repeated fine-tuning, add color to the company's new work scene.

In this project, we carried out two main activities: "progress management of the entire project"and "work style consulting." We laid out the path for the entire project while conducting data analysis, interviews, and workshops. In concept work, we collect and condense over 200 voices and sublimate them into a concept. The reason we were able to not only build the foundations of this work style but also proceed with small details such as moving arrangements without delay despite a tight schedule was through close communication with the company's members and the speedy sharing of understanding. I feel that it was a great accomplishment to be able to achieve this goal.
