Promoting industry-academia-regional collaboration with “connected” spaces and content
Ritsumeikan University, with campuses in Kyoto and Kusatsu, Shiga Prefecture, opened the Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC) in Osaka Prefecture Ibaraki in April 2015. It is the new home of the School of Business Administration and the School of Policy Science, and in April 2016, the School of Comprehensive Psychology was also established. The 99,000 m2 site includes not only school buildings and a gymnasium, but also a facility open to the public that houses a café, library, hall, and other facilities. The concept is "a campus open to the public.

A 60-inch, nine-panel multi-signage measuring 3.1m in height and 4.6m in width is placed in the center of the space. The impact of the large screen draws the attention of people passing through the corridor, and it also functions as a hub that creates connections. Speakers with excellent acoustic performance are also installed to appeal not only to the eyes but also to the ears of people passing by.

The 9-sided multi-signage can be displayed not only on the entire screen, but also on 6-sided split display in an irregular arrangement.

The university introduced an information search-type signage system called "Tree Viewer." The interface design allows users to intuitively retrieve the information they want, and anyone from children to seniors can enjoy simple touch operation.

The school introduction signage system "Tree Viewer" manages content with CMS. The hierarchical database makes it easy to add and update information. The operation status can also be checked from the network.

The original content "Lagora Viewer" displays the timeline of various events in parallel, encouraging awareness and discovery. It can also be used by students from the School of Business Administration and School of Policy Science, whose main research focus is on events rather than things, to present the results of their research.

On the north side of Lagora, the corner surrounded by glass windows in a U-shape is a popular space with a great view.

The learning studio is located across from Lagora. The tables, chairs and displays are movable. By storing the movable partition, it can be connected to the adjacent room to make it more spacious.

"R-AGORA Viewer" is a type of content that we are working on for the first time, but we would like to make use of our experience so far and work hard to meet your expectations. In addition, prior to the introduction of R-AGORA Viewer, we proposed a hierarchical display of ``Tree Viewer'' as content to be displayed on 9-panel multi-signage, promoting awareness among OIC and Ritsumeikan University. We believe that by having these two types of interactive content coexist, R-AGORA's concept of ''a place that creates connections'' can be further realized.
