User's Voice
Hitachi, Ltd.
Mr. Shoichiro Fujiwara, Unit Leader, Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Department, Technology Management Center, Technology Strategy Office
I believe that the completion of the open lab is the result of collaborative creation between researchers, designers, and ITOKI. The Open Lab Management Committee takes measures based on the various opinions that have emerged since the start of operation, and continues to make improvements. Currently, communication between researchers is becoming more active, and the number of visitors visiting the facility is increasing. In addition, when customers come to visit us, we sometimes guide them to other labs in addition to the one they are looking for, and we are seeing a wide range of usage. We would like to continue to deepen our collaborative creation with our customers.
Comment
Hitachi, Ltd.'s Open Lab Yokohama was created through repeated discussions and verifications with the researchers and members who will actually use the facility, as a place to accelerate "collaborative creation" that realizes open innovation.
We use furniture and ICT to create a space where the lab's main purpose is to quickly run and repeat the prototyping and verification cycle. The space incorporates a design that stimulates new functions and senses, awakening the consciousness and actions of researchers who tend to be reclusive, and has become a place to put new ways of working into practice.
We believe that this lab is an innovation born out of collaboration between Hitachi,Ltd. and Itoki.
