Taking advantage of the construction of the new government building, They will transform working style into a more connected one. A workplace where both employees and prefecture residents can connect with each other.

Nagasaki Prefecture is a municipality with a population of approximately 1.34 million located in northwestern Kyushu. Based on the basic philosophy of "a government building that opens up a new era together with the citizens of the prefecture," the government building began operation in January 2018 after a process that lasted approximately nine years. The new government building, which has been rebuilt for the first time in about 60 years, is built facing Nagasaki Port and has a low-rise structure that blends in with the surrounding landscape. It is also an environmentally friendly government building that can function as a disaster prevention base facility in the event of a large-scale disaster. At the new government building, efforts were made not only to improve the hardware, but also to change the way people work. The aim was to create a "connected way of working" that leveraged the collective strength of the organization.

During this project, which spanned approximately nine years starting in 2009, the Workplace Plan carried out numerous studies involving employees in order to share and spread the concept of "Connected BA." During the detailed workplace design and relocation planning from the summer of 2015 until the relocation, we conducted interviews with all departments, formulated guidelines, and held various workshops with the cooperation of ITOKI. These processes were important for smooth relocation and operation, as the way of working has changed significantly from the old government building.

Itoki was responsible for the final three years of the new government building construction project, which lasted approximately nine years, as relocation PM. As the general manager, I placed particular importance on embodying a ``connected way of working'' in every aspect of the project, such as planning and managing workshops with employee participation and creating 10 work areas that employees themselves could choose to work in. In addition to smoothly carrying out large-scale projects such as formulating guidelines to encourage a change in employee awareness and awareness, I also worked hard to reform the way employees worked.

As a result, we are very honored to have been able to share the joy of receiving the Nikkei New Office Promotion Award (also the Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry Director's Award) and the Japan Facility Management Award Encouragement Award with the Nagasaki Prefectural Government. We have realized an advanced prefectural office workplace suitable for the new era, including the development of support functions that promote collaboration with the local community.
