Kyushu University currently has approximately 11,600 undergraduate students, 7,000 graduate students, and 8,000 faculty members, including the Institute of Core Education, 12 faculties/1 program, 18 graduate schools, 4 professional graduate schools, 16 research institutes, and the Institute for Advanced Research. , one of Japan's leading core educational and research universities, with five research institutes, a hospital, and a library.

The Ito Campus, which began moving in 2005 and was completed in 2018, is currently the largest campus in Japan with approximately 19,000 students and faculty members.

The Ito Campus is home to the "Center Zone" where facilities for learning "core education" and administrative offices are located, the "West Zone" which is a group of large-scale education and research buildings, and the largest library and humanities and social science facilities of any university in Japan. It consists of three zones, including the "East Zone," which was completed in the final stage of the group relocation project.
