ITOKI's vertebra03 WOOD wins the Encouragement Award at the Wood Design Awards 2024!
X-Innovation Center also won an award in the Heartful Design category.
ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) won the Encouragement Award for its "vertebra03 WOOD" at the "Wood Design Awards 2024" (sponsored by the Japan Wood Design Association). It also won an award at the "X-Innovation Center."

vertebra03 WOOD combines the warmth of wood with ITOKI's unique ergonomics. The back and seat are cut and shaped from solid chestnut wood, a domestic hardwood, by Karimoku Furniture. The company's know-how in making wooden furniture and ITOKI's design technology utilizing ergonomics and seat tracers have made it possible to create an optimal back and seat shape that follows the working posture while making the most of the texture of the wood. Other features include a non-slip seating surface to stabilize the seating position and painting technology that expresses delicate coloring while leaving the wood grain intact.

■X-Innovation Center (Cross Innovation Center)
Okumura Corporation's "X-Innovation Center" is a hub for creating the future of people and technology that opened in October 2023. The aim is to create innovation through exchanges and collaboration between industry, government, academia and the public, and the space makes maximum use of ITOKI's knowledge and know-how. The facility has also received the highest S rank in the CASBEE Wellness Office certification, and has been highly rated in terms of health and comfort.

What is the Wood Design Award?
This is an awards system to recognize products and services that enrich life and society with wood, and to promote them both domestically and internationally. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the awards since their inception, and 226 of the 366 total entries were awarded prizes. The top prizes were the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award, the Minister of the Environment Award, and the Osaka-Kansai Expo Special Award (Minister of the International Expo Award).
