Itoki Receives Rainbow Certification in the PRIDE Index 2024, Evaluating LGBTQ+ Inclusion in the Workplace

Awarded the highest rating of "Gold" for two consecutive years

ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) has received the highest rating of "Gold" in the PRIDE Index, an evaluation index for initiatives related to LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities (hereinafter referred to as LGBTQ+) in the workplace. In addition, from among companies that have received a "Gold" rating in the PRIDE Index, the company has also received the "Rainbow Certification," which is given to companies that promote cross-sectoral collaboration with national and local governments.

What is the PRIDE index?

The PRIDE Index is Japan's first index for evaluating the initiatives of companies, organizations, etc. related to LGBTQ+, and was established in 2016 by work with Pride in order to create workplaces in Japan that are friendly to LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities.
It consists of five indicators: Policy (declaration of action), Representation (community of stakeholders), Inspiration (awareness-raising activities), Development (personnel systems and programs), and Engagement/Empowerment (social contributions and public relations activities). Companies and organizations are awarded points if they meet the specified requirements within each indicator, and are certified as Gold, Silver, or Bronze depending on the score.

What is Rainbow Certification?

This is an evaluation index that recognizes companies and organizations that go beyond what their own company can achieve through its own efforts to promote cross-sector collaboration with national and local governments, academic institutions, NPOs/NGOs, and others in order to create workplaces and a society where sexual minorities, including LGBTQ+ people, can work as they are.

Our past efforts

  • LGBTQ+ training: for management (2022) and all employees (2023)
  • Declaring ourselves LGBTQ+ ally inside and outside the company, and announcing our original ally mark and corporate logo (2022)
  • Introducing a “partnership system” (2023) that applies the same benefits and rules to common-law couples, same-sex partners, their children, and parents as legal spouses and family members.
  • As a company that supports LGBTQ+, we will hold "Ally Exhibitions" at locations nationwide (2023, 2024)
  • LGBTQ+ Ally Community Launch (2023)
  • Create a "DE&I WORKPLACE HANDBOOK" that summarizes the points to be focused on in spatial design that takes DE&I into consideration and distribute it to all employees (2024)
  • Holding a DE&I x WORKPLACE seminar to consider DE&I-friendly spaces (2024)

Itoki will continue to work to create a work environment where each and every "diverse human resource" with different ages, genders, sexual orientations, gender identities, nationalities, disabilities, employment types, working styles, customs, values, etc. can "liven up" and demonstrate their individuality through the expansion of systems and training related to LGBTQ+.
