CJ COMMONS, a new library shape for Chikushi Jogakuen University
In addition to being a library that can accommodate a variety of learning environments, the [Learning Support Center] has also been established with a view to peer support activities among students, so that students can feel free to ask questions and receive advice regarding their studies.
In order to respond to this, it became necessary to develop interactive classes and provide active "places" for students to discover and solve problems on their own, so one of the two libraries on campus was renovated. , a plan to turn it into a learning commons has started.
The key points were (1) to create a residential library and (2) to create a place that is attractive to students, a place that stimulates their intellectual curiosity, and a place where they can receive human support.
Then, in September 2014, "CJ COMMONS" was completed, which has not only library functions but also learning support functions to meet the needs of diverse students.

Comment
The concept of "home"is to embody two of the following: "creating an environment where students can learn and grow independently" and "an open learning space where ideas can be transformed into reality."
Learning Commons is an extension of a place where you can have fun studying with your friends at your own home, so we adopted the concept of "home." Additionally, given the architectural requirements of large ducts and high ceilings, we created a symbolic "home" within the space.
There are five diverse corners: 1) a round presentation court, 2) a cute reading room, 3) a comfortable space with a window seat and a sofa seat, 4) a study space with a large table, and 5) a multipurpose study space where you can have group discussions. CJ COMMONS embodies our desire to encourage students to dream and expand their creative wings.
