ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) supplied display cases for the exhibition space development of the Edo-Tokyo Museum (Sumida-ku, Tokyo), which reopened in March 2026 after renovations.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum has reopened after undergoing its first major renovation in approximately 30 years. Along with the renewal of exhibits and facilities, the exhibition spaces have also been refurbished, and some of the display cases have been made by Itoki.

In art museums and museums, the appearance and impression of artworks can change dramatically depending on the glass of the display cases, the lighting, and the harmony with the exhibition space. To convey the appeal of the artworks to visitors, the design of the entire exhibition environment plays a crucial role, not just the exhibits themselves. Furthermore, when changing exhibits, a working environment is required that allows curators to handle valuable cultural artifacts and works of art and crafts safely and carefully.

For many years, Itoki has developed and manufactured display cases that meet the unique needs of art museums and museums, and has supplied them to cultural facilities throughout Japan. At the Edo-Tokyo Museum in Tokyo, too, display cases that harmonize with the exhibition space have been adopted.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum opened in March 1993 as a place to reflect on the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo and to consider the future of the city and life. Designed by Kiyoshi Kikutake, the unique building has been a leading cultural institution in Tokyo since its opening, showcasing the approximately 400 years from Tokugawa Ieyasu's entry into Edo to the present day, using valuable original artifacts, reconstructed models, and interactive exhibits.
