Itoki collaborates with NX Shoji to donate over 2,200 items to Cambodia over two years through the "Used Office Furniture Overseas Donation" project
Eliminate waste! Contributing to a recycling-oriented society through furniture recycling
ITOKI CORPORATION (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato; hereinafter "ITOKI") has donated more than 2,200 pieces of furniture, equivalent to 15 containers, to government agencies, educational and medical facilities in Cambodia in the two years since the project began, through a collaborative scheme called "Overseas Donation of Used Office Furniture" with NX Shoji Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Susumu Akita; hereinafter "NX Shoji").

Business overview and purpose
This project was started in 2021 in collaboration with NX Shoji, and is an initiative to coordinate with the recipient country to donate furniture that is still usable and has no place to go due to renewal or relocation, and then donate the fixtures that the recipient country wants. . Itoki is in charge of determining the age of office furniture, and NX Shoji is in charge of coordination and transportation with the Ministry of the Environment and the Cambodian Embassy.

We chose Cambodia as the destination for donations because there is no local office furniture manufacturer, so there is no risk of hindering local industrial development, and the majority of products are imported from neighboring countries or handmade wooden furniture, and furniture made of high-strength steel. These include high demand and rarity.
In addition to contributing to a recycling-oriented society by reducing the waste of office furniture that can still be used, we also support the development of sustainable and resilient cities and environments, and improve economic productivity by promoting partnerships between the public, private sector, and civil society. We aim to achieve SDGs on both the energy and emissions side.

List of hiring companies
Approximately two years after the start of the business, the system has been adopted by private companies and organizations across the country. It was also implemented by Nippon Express (an NX Group company), a partner of this scheme.

In the future, we are considering working with group companies in ASEAN to include recycling and environmentally friendly disposal of office furniture that has reached the end of its life cycle in Cambodia. Through this initiative, ITOKI will continue to fulfill Goal 12 of the SDGs, ``Responsible Production and Responsible Consumption,'' and aim to realize a society where ` Vibrant People, Beautiful Planet..''
