Itoki and Pixie Dust Technologies jointly develop clear sound-absorbing panel "iwasemi™ HX-α" that takes advantage of material flexibility

~Create tranquility in the office~

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Koji Minato; hereinafter "ITOKI") has jointly developed "iwasemi™ HX-α," a clear sound-absorbing panel that takes advantage of the flexibility of the material, with Pixie Dust Technologies Inc. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Directors: Yoichi Ochiai and Taiichiro Murakami; hereinafter "PxDT"), a company that promotes digital innovation in the fields of hearing and touch.

This product is a transparent sound-absorbing panel that can be attached to glass, created by combining PxDT's acoustic metamaterial technology with Itoki's design technology. It is equipped with a sound-absorbing structure designed specifically for the 500-1000Hz frequency band, which is often included in human voices in offices where web conferencing has become commonplace. This product is scheduled to be released around summer 2022.

background

With the rapid expansion of remote work and the increase in in-office web conferencing due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the state of facilities has changed from gathering multiple people in a large room to narrow spaces for small groups. We are shifting to a method. In response to these changes in the times, ITOKI has sought to combine ``sound insulation'' and ``sound absorption'' to improve the comfort of the sound environment in narrow spaces.

Therefore, by combining the knowledge and technology of Pixie Dust Technologies, which has the unique know-how of controlling the sound environment through technology, with Itoki's knowledge of "space," "environment," and "place creation" in offices, we have created a new solution for glass. We decided to embark on joint development to explore possible solutions to the problem of reverberant sound that haunts enclosed spaces.

Features of “iwasemi™ HX-α”

"iwasemi™ HX-α" has the following features.

  1. Taking advantage of iwasemi™'s material flexibility, we have realized a sound-absorbing structure made of transparent resin.
  2. It is equipped with a sound-absorbing structure designed specifically for the 500-1000Hz frequency band, which is often included in the human voice.
  3. By combining 6 colors, you can add a variety of expressions that fit into any space.

These features reduce the sound reflected by the glass and create a clear space that is easy to talk to.

Features of “iwasemi™ HX-α”

This product is also scheduled to be exhibited at the international trade show "Orgatec Tokyo 2022", which will be held from April 26th to 28th. Please see the ITOKI homepage for details.
