ITOKI Tokyo Innovation Center SYNQA holds "Forest Notes" collaboration event with JVCKENWOOD Corporation
ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Joto-ku, Osaka City, President: Matsui Tadashi, hereinafter referred to as "ITOKI") will be holding a "Forest of Sensibility 2014 Exhibition," a "Forest Notes" collaboration event, in collaboration with JVC Kenwood Design Corporation, a group company of JVC Kenwood Corporation, from March 18th (Tue) to 23rd (Sun) at the ITOKI Tokyo Innovation Center SYNQA.
"Forest Notes" is a service and product that delivers real-time sounds from the forest to spaces where many people gather, such as living rooms and offices. The service distributes sounds from the forest, such as birds singing, in real time via the Internet by placing microphones in the forest, and also produces speakers made from domestic timber that allow people to listen to the sounds of the forest.
This event, "Forest of Sensibility 2014 Exhibition," will bring together and exhibit idea models that utilize the "Forest Notes" system from companies, schools, and artists who share the theme of "Forest Notes," which is that people and nature are connected beyond distance. In addition to proposing new styles of coexistence with nature, we will create a place for industry-academia exchange, corporate collaboration, and mutual PR for the future.
ITOKI has noticed the high affinity between "Forest Notes" and Econifa, a solution that utilizes local materials and is developed based on the concept of "connecting forests and cities." As the two companies have been working together, they announced "Forest Notes for saltus," a product that incorporates "Forest Notes," in November of last year.
By using this product in offices and public spaces, people can feel close to the forest and local area while indoors, creating a space where they can naturally relax and feel the changing of time, weather, and seasons.
We aim to broaden the concept of the workplace by proposing it as a place of relaxation for workers who do not have assigned seats in the office and who work in a variety of spaces and environments, and for situations that call for flexible thinking. Through these activities, we will encourage interaction between companies, students, artists, and the local community, and pursue the formation of a domestic network centered on the forest and the possibility of collaborative projects.

Overview of "Forest Notes for Saltus"
This product incorporates the sound system "Forest Notes", a product of JVC Kenwood Corporation, into ITOKI's "Econifa/wooden interior system Saltus".
Saltus means "forest" in Latin. It is a product that can turn an entire space into wood as "furniture" rather than as "interior (walls and ceilings)" that must be fireproof according to the Building Standards Act. By adding options such as wall panels, shelves, lighting and sound environment, it can enhance the space.
