BACKGROUND

Accelerate towards carbon neutrality with solar panels

The Itoki Group has been actively promoting the introduction of solar power generation since 2009, and has so far installed solar panels on the roofs and on the premises of its main factories in Japan. In addition, our long-term goals for reducing CO2 emissions are to reduce Scope 1+2 by 50% compared to 2013 by 2030, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
As one of the measures to achieve this goal, we have decided to install self-consumption solar panels on the roof of the AP (Assembly Process) Center, which will be completed in October 2022.

ACTION

Achieving optimal specifications through careful research and planning

In preparation for the solar panel installation work, we conducted a survey of the annual power consumption of a factory/warehouse of the same size as the AP Center, and determined the optimal power generation capacity and how to contribute to measures against the heat inside the AP Center in the summer. After careful consideration, construction will begin in November 2022. It has been in operation since February 2023.

IMPACT

Continue to optimize energy procurement

This facility has a power generation capacity of approximately 881kw and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 271t per year. In addition, when combined with the 516kW of equipment that has been in operation since June 2021, it is possible to cover 22.8% of the annual electricity consumption in our Shiga area (compared to 2022) with renewable energy.
In order to achieve our long-term CO2 emissions reduction target for 2030, we will continue to consider a wide range of perspectives, including increasing the renewable energy rate by adopting solar power generation through virtual PPA, and will improve energy procurement at each site. We will strive to optimize the.
