Itoki unveils case study of HBA headquarters office renovation in Sapporo

Leveraging its location, the company is creating a new "BASE" by using locally sourced materials and designing diverse spaces.

ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) was responsible for the planning, design, and construction of the common areas and some work areas in the headquarters office renovation project of HBA Corporation, headquartered in Sapporo, Hokkaido. This project has now been published in "ITOKI WORK-Style Design," which introduces advanced spatial examples from a designer's perspective. Based on HBA's concept of "BASE (a haven for employees)," the office was designed not only to provide the necessary functions for work, but also to be a place where people naturally gather, open up, and want to come back to.

The office design emphasizes the warmth of materials from northern Japan and the overall atmosphere of the company. The first-floor reception area uses Hokkaido-sourced wood and genuine leather to express the trust and warmth that the company has cultivated over many years. In the second-floor meeting area, equipment and operability are standardized to create an environment where conversations and discussions can take place without stress. Furthermore, in the fifth-floor cafe area, the greenery of the adjacent botanical garden is incorporated as a borrowed landscape, and Hokkaido materials such as Sapporo soft stone and Ebetsu brick are used to create a space that resonates with the memories and scenery of the land.

Furthermore, the office area on the 7th floor was designed with flexibility to accommodate future organizational changes and project restructuring. Each floor has its own distinct character, allowing employees to choose their workspace according to their mood and purpose, thus creating an office that supports both comfort and creativity for its employees. The space combines the characteristics of a company rooted in the local community with the resilience required for future work styles.
