A new way of thinking about chairs: original yet standard and easy to use.
"NII," a furniture brand that embraces the concept of "Ingenious design," transforms offices into vibrant spaces where people gather, connect, and inspire each other. Through innovative collections created in collaboration with designers both domestically and internationally, NII encourages thinking, collaboration, and challenges, realizing a new space for value creation where employees are the main focus.
The new collection being announced features three products created in collaboration with London-based design studio Industrial Facility, as well as Kohei Wada and Hirotaka Takou of ITOKI. The collection consists of "HAKUSAN" by Industrial Facility, "BIWA" by Wada, and "ALLROUND" by Takou.
This lineup starts with connecting people and supports a variety of activities such as work, meetings, and communication. While original, it blends naturally into the space, drawing out people's movements and relationships, and presents a new way of thinking about chairs.

HAKUSAN
DESIGN
HAKUSAN is a chair that combines individuality and universality, crafted from a die-cast aluminum and steel frame with a single plywood shell. The flowing silhouette, with its integrated frame and armrests, expresses both lightness and structural strength, bringing a quiet yet undeniable presence to the space. By using thicker diameter steel pipes than typical stacking chairs, it achieves an appearance that maintains lightness while possessing the calm stability of a dining chair. The contrast of materials and balanced proportions allow it to blend naturally into the space while exuding a subtle individuality.
FUNCTION
Designed for effortless handling in everyday activities such as stacking and moving, this chair minimizes wobbling when lifted, creating a lighter feel than its actual weight. Its design allows for a natural grip from the front, enabling smooth stacking with minimal movement. This chair is set to become a new standard, its ease of use becoming increasingly apparent with repeated use.
DESIGNER’S
COMMENT

A complete collection of their work was published by Phaidon Press in 2018.
BIWA
DESIGN
BIWA is a work chair whose soft, organic form envelops the body, exuding a gentle presence in any space. The smoothly continuous shell shape and the shoulder rests that appear to float simultaneously convey a sense of lightness and security, allowing for free sitting positions that are not bound by a single posture. It is a new style of chair that has a lounge-like appearance while possessing the functionality required for work.
With a total of 21 color variations available for the upholstery, it can harmonize with a variety of spaces.
FUNCTION
It features the essential basic functions for work, such as seat height adjustment, smooth synchronized rocking, and locking of the initial rocking angle. The backrest is designed to accommodate various sitting positions, and the sides that cradle the body can also be used as armrests. It embraces the fluctuations that occur with each change in posture, seamlessly connecting concentration and relaxation. The floating-like shoulder rest has a light appearance, yet its supportive shape provides a sense of security, allowing you to lean back without interrupting your thoughts.
DESIGNER'S COMMENT
BIWA was designed with the intention of appealing to people's emotions through a more universal furniture form, rather than emphasizing the functionality required of a task chair in its appearance. Offices are increasingly transforming into vibrant spaces where new value is born from people's thoughts and collaborations. Accordingly, the design of the furniture placed in these spaces should also be updated from the conventional framework of "office furniture."
The soft, lounge-chair-like silhouette, accentuated by shoulder rests that appear to float, is an iconic feature that captivates the viewer. The name BIWA comes from the biwa, a musical instrument that serves as a motif for the chair's embracing silhouette. This chair is manufactured in a factory near Lake Biwa.

As a product that sits closest to the human body, his passion for chair design, which deeply impacts daily life, is endless. He has received numerous awards, including the iF Design Award GOLD, Red Dot Design Award, and GOOD DESIGN Award.
ALLROUND
DESIGN
ALLROUND is a product with a friendly and light impression, composed of rounded forms and smooth curves. Its simple structure with a single support column and minimalist appearance using metal materials quietly blend into the space, harmonizing with its surroundings without being overly assertive. The sculpted shape, as light reflects off it, further accentuates its roundness, creating a subtle presence in the space while softly changing its expression.
FUNCTION
By incorporating casters* beneath the base and concealing them from view, this stool achieves effortless, gliding movement. It moves naturally when needed and adapts to the environment, flexibly accommodating people's movements and the flow of conversation. Beyond its use as a stool, it also functions as a simple table, increasing layout flexibility in workshops, meetings, and lounge spaces. It's a versatile tool for various office environments. *Casters are only included in the STOOL type.

COMMENT
