Itoki to hold an exhibition of its "SHIGA" work chair, designed to quietly blend into any space, in Aoyama from March 27th (Friday).
A new work chair experience made possible by minimalist design and ergonomics.
ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) will hold an experience event for its new work chair, "SHIGA," at "ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE AOYAMA" in Aoyama, Tokyo, from Friday, March 27th to Friday, April 17th, 2026.
"SHIGA" is a new work chair developed and produced at Itoki's Shiga factory. It was designed as a product that combines a minimalist appearance that blends naturally into the space with comfort that supports long hours of use. The product design was handled by product designer Fumie Shibata, who also collaborated on "vertebra03". In addition to its functionality as a work chair, the design emphasizes that it is a "chair as furniture," paying attention to how it looks when multiple chairs are lined up and how it harmonizes with the overall space. It has an ergonomic structure inside, and incorporates functions that support natural posture changes within its simple exterior. The planning, design, and development proceeded in an integrated manner, utilizing the design and manufacturing technology of the Shiga factory.
This event, titled "Quiet Intelligence," will feature a special exhibition of various prototypes and parts born from SHIGA's design, development, and engineering processes. These are fragments that are accidentally formed during the design and manufacturing process and are usually hidden from view. We aim to uncover the "quiet intelligence" hidden behind SHIGA's manufacturing and showcase its trajectory.
Additionally, on March 27th (Fri), 28th (Sat), April 10th (Fri), and 11th (Sat), we will be holding pop-up trial sessions where you can place orders on the spot. You can examine upholstery samples and consider the selection of colors and materials that best suit your space.
