The lab is no longer just a workspace, but a space for intellectual creation - Dalton relocates its Nagoya office and opens it as a working showroom
Increase brand value, improve employee engagement, and strengthen proposal capabilities through on-site sales
ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) is promoting its three-year medium-term management plan "RISE TO GROWTH 2026" starting in 2024, and has set maximizing group synergy as one of its seven key strategies.
As part of this, Dalton Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tadashi Sawada), a group company whose main business is in the research facility field, is currently undergoing management and organizational reforms. With the aim of improving productivity and brand value through relocation to a new base and revamping work styles, the Dalton Group Nagoya Office, which serves as the sales base for the Nagoya area, has been relocated and renovated, and will open as a new office on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
This relocation will be an opportunity to further improve the brand value and create an environment in which employees can work with pride, while also aiming to build new relationships with customers through in-person sales.
Background and Aims
The new office is based on the concept of "BMT (Branding/Motivation/Transformation)" with the aim of enhancing Dalton's brand value and creating an environment where employees can work enthusiastically and with pride.
"Branding" is positioned as a working showroom where customers can directly experience our company's technology and ideas, creating a place to increase pride in the brand and enhance our ability to communicate.
"Motivation" promotes the transfer of knowledge and skills through a design that fosters natural interaction across departments and psychological safety. We create an environment that makes employees want to work here, with a sense of security among colleagues, a comfortable atmosphere, and high productivity, which leads to improved recruitment and retention.
"Transformation" aims to create an office where efficiency and creativity coexist, while promoting paperless and digitalization and adopting a flexible spatial configuration that supports employees in working independently.
Based on this concept, we will promote efforts aimed at four shifts: (1) further strengthening our own brand, (2) creating a working showroom that generates new forms of communication with customers, (3) revitalizing communication across organizational boundaries, and (4) improving productivity by selecting workspaces that match activities.
Features of the new office
Achieve the optimal working style with "4 areas x 9 activities."
It consists of four areas: an office area, a cafe area, a branding area, and a utility area.
Despite the limited area of approximately 230 square meters, we have created a diverse space that is both functional and comfortable.
Efficient traffic flow design and clear zoning allow for high density placement of various functions such as office work, communication, guest rooms and storage.
[Office area] Central space that accommodates diverse work styles
The space is designed to allow users to choose the optimal environment to suit their purpose and mood, with "base work seats" equipped with monitors, "family restaurant seats" that make face-to-face conversations easy, "concentration seats" that are enclosed to allow individuals to focus on their work, "web booths" suitable for online meetings, and "big tables" that can be used for everything from team discussions to individual concentrated work or work with drawings spread out.
[Cafe area] A relaxing space that fosters ideas and interaction
There are long sofas and four-person tables that are easy to use for one or more people. It is a casual space that can be used for meetings or lunches. It is a place where you can change your mood between work and where new ideas are born from spontaneous communication.
[Branding Area] A place to communicate technology and worldview
The building is equipped with a reception room to welcome visitors and a product exhibition space, allowing visitors to intuitively experience Dalton's technological capabilities and design philosophy through actual products and large monitors.
Going forward, we will utilize this base to strengthen our on-site sales. Unlike business meetings held at our clients' offices, by having them come to our office, we will be able to share more in-depth our ideas on space creation and the nature of research facilities.
[Utility Area] The foundation for efficiency and comfort
We have consolidated storage, personal lockers, and shared items, optimizing the flow of movement throughout the office and creating a comfortable environment where you can easily reach what you need.
By organically connecting these areas, the facility is evolving into a base that supports proactive work styles, where employees can think, act, and connect for themselves.
Dalton's goal of creating research facilities
Dalton believes that "a lab is not just a workplace, but a space for intellectual creation," and advocates Activity Based Laboratory Design.
Leveraging the airflow control technology we have cultivated as pioneers of low-airflow draft chambers, we strive to create an environment where researchers can immerse themselves in their research safely and creatively. This philosophy is reflected in the design of our Nagoya office, maximizing the power of communication and ideas that arise from the space.
We will continue to realize the ideal research environment of the future through technological innovation and value creation in the research facility field.
