ITOKI's automated medicine picking system "DAP with MediMonitor" delivered to Fukutaro Pharmacy Yachiyodai West Exit Store

Reducing the burden on pharmacists and standardizing their work -- supporting pharmacy management in an era of labor shortages

ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) has delivered the automatic medication picking system "DAP with MediMonitor" to Fukutaro Pharmacy Yachiyodai West Entrance Store (Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture), which opened on Monday, June 2, 2025.
The store introduced this system with the aim of reducing the number of staff required for dispensing and improving safety, and will begin operating it as a core facility that will support efficient, high-quality business operations.

Delivery background

Responding to on-site needs to balance "labor shortages" with "ensuring safety"
Fukutaro Pharmacy has been reviewing its automated equipment with the aim of reducing the number of people required for dispensing work while improving safety. In this context, ITOKI's "DAP with MediMonitor" was highly evaluated for its space-saving and expandable design, as well as its error prevention function while keeping implementation and operating costs down. It is also compatible with measures to optimize labor costs, such as transferring some of the pharmacist's work to non-pharmacists, which led to its introduction at this new store.

Features of delivered products

Automation and recording functions to support on-site operations
The "DAP with MediMonitor" delivered this time is configured by combining a standard unit with two expansion units. It is designed for efficient operation in a small space and can be flexibly adapted to newly opened pharmacies.

In this system, the stacker crane automatically transports the medicines, so workers do not need to remember where the medicines are stored, preventing the work from being dependent on individual skills. In addition, the inspection function automatically measures the weight of the medicines, which helps reduce human error such as counting the quantity. Furthermore, after the medicine audit, the total amount of medicines picked is automatically photographed and saved as a record, so alibi management is automatically managed, contributing to improving the reliability of dispensing work.

Comment from Yuzo Tanaka, Deputy General Manager of the Pharmacy Operations Division at Fukutaro Pharmacy

When opening a new store, it was necessary to build a system that could provide high-quality dispensing services even with limited manpower. "DAP with MediMonitor" is a system that can simultaneously improve work efficiency through automation and improve safety by preventing errors and storing records. We have already received positive feedback from the field, and we would like to actively consider using it in future store developments.
