Murata Manufacturing introduces "Data Trekking" at its headquarters to jointly test a comfortable office environment
Additional analysis of sound pressure, CO₂, etc. is performed, and the relationship between communication and condition is visualized using IoT.
ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) has published a case study of its office data analysis service, "Data Trekking," at the headquarters of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture; President and CEO: Norio Nakajima). In this project, the two companies conducted a joint verification test, taking advantage of the service's unique feature of enabling the discovery of new perspectives by combining multiple layers of data, including the customer's own proprietary data. By combining ITOKI's employee surveys and location information with environmental data such as temperature, humidity, CO₂ concentration, and sound pressure collected by Murata Manufacturing's sensor data platform, "Pifaa," the relationship between the amount of communication within the office and ease of working was analyzed.

Murata Manufacturing's head office introduced "Data Trekking" as a data-driven verification system for work styles in conjunction with renovations to accommodate an increase in employees. An integrated analysis was conducted by combining office environment data, such as temperature, humidity, CO₂ concentration, and sound pressure, from "Pifaa," performance surveys from "Performance Trail," and location information from "Workers Trail." In particular, sound pressure data was visualized as a "communication (conversation occurrence) index." By understanding the amount of communication by area, differences in condition scores by age group and key areas for office improvement were identified. By quantifying factors that were previously perceived qualitatively, this presented a new approach to scientifically examining zoning and equipment placement. Itoki will continue to use "Data Trekking" to analyze offices from multiple perspectives and contribute to the improvement and evolution of work styles and working environments.
