ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE AOYAMA will host "THE STAGE by NII - A Stage for Working People to Dignify" for a limited time only

SPREAD will be used for the venue layout and will be exhibiting at DESIGNART TOKYO 2025

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) will hold a conceptual presentation by office furniture brand NII, "THE STAGE by NII," for a limited time from Friday, October 31st to Friday, November 28th, 2025, at ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE AOYAMA, which will open in the fall of 2025.

NII is a furniture brand based on the concept of "Ingenious Design," elevating the office into an inviting and vibrant stage. Collaborating with designers active both in Japan and abroad, the brand creates innovative collections that emphasize quality, comfort, and craftsmanship down to the smallest detail. NII's unique designs create energetic and inspiring spaces, connecting people, encouraging thought and collaboration, and encouraging challenges, all of which drive the creation of new value. The first lineup released in Japan features AMDL CIRCLE, an architecture studio led by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, as well as New York-based designers Todd Bracher, Rodolfo Agrella, and Jun Aizaki / Crème.

We are holding an exhibition titled "THE STAGE by NII" to allow visitors to experience the world of the stage created by NII. The venue will be designed by SPREAD, a creative unit active both in Japan and overseas in a wide range of fields from graphics to installations, characterized by "color and concept." Together with NII, we will create a stage that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of the office, where the activity of "work" itself becomes attractive content and working becomes entertainment.

PRESENTATION

The venue layout for "THE STAGE by NII" was created in collaboration with the creative unit SPREAD.
Together with NII, we will create a stage that goes beyond the boundaries of the office, where the activity of "work" itself becomes attractive content and working becomes entertainment.
The venue features stripes that spread from black lines that stretch from the walls to the ceiling and floor, along with mirrors placed here and there, transcending conventional visual boundaries and creating new interpretations and meanings in the exhibition space, encouraging visitors to think. The expansion of the space created by the mirrors also expresses the expandability required for office furniture.

SPREAD

A creative unit consisting of Haruna Yamada and Hirokazu Kobayashi, they combine landscape design, which captures the environment over a long timeline, with graphic design, which visually conveys vivid impressions, to create works that incorporate all kinds of memories and "spread" them. Their works, which explore the expression of color, such as "Life Stripe," which represents the record of daily life in stripes, and "Much Peace, Love and Joy," which arranges different color gradations in space, have been exhibited both domestically and internationally, in Milan, Basel, Miami, Singapore, Tokyo, and other cities.
His major works include the commemorative visuals for the 10th anniversary of the opening of the National Art Center, Tokyo, the "The Carpenters' Line" exhibition at Japan House London, JR East's "Yamanote Line Museum," the factory tour event "Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival," Burberry's "The Burberry Trench," and Kao's "est." He has won numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the Red Dot Design Award for two consecutive years. His collection of works, "SPREAD by SPREAD" (Seigensha), has been published.

PRODUCTS

NII's products feature original, distinctive, iconic designs that catch the eye in offices and shared spaces, expandability that stimulates the user's imagination, and mechanisms that naturally encourage communication. They offer modular furniture that can flexibly adapt to a variety of work settings.

BITMAP

This sofa is made up of blocks of different sizes, connected by a single edge, creating a unique appearance.
The small blocks create the surprising appearance of floating. The top surface can be used as a simple table, armrest, backrest, or even a seat, allowing you to approach from any direction. Although it is a single module, by combining and arranging the blocks in an intersecting pattern, communication in any direction is possible, including parallel, face-to-face, and diagonal directions.
Design: Todd Bracher

PIGNA

This furniture comes in two styles: a divider and a sofa, and features scaly panels with gaps that allow light and breezes to pass through while providing just the right amount of privacy. Choose the height that best suits your level of privacy from three options: a low type that allows for a panoramic view of the surroundings, a middle type that provides just the right amount of seclusion, and a high type (divider only) that gently divides the space. The sofa seat is wider than most, allowing for comfortable seating. It encourages communication while maintaining both a connection to the outside space and a sense of privacy inside. CONNEXA

This table features an organic structure, with a skeletal frame supporting the glass top at points. Choose from four types of glass tops and five types of frames, and while simple, they can be combined and expanded. They create different spaces when used independently or connected together. While evoking the forms of nature, plants, and living creatures, their understated appearance opens people's hearts and naturally sparks conversation.
Design: Rodolfo Agrella

PARLAMENTO

This modular furniture piece uses four units of different heights to create a space where diverse individuals can interact. Comprised of a low sofa/high sofa reminiscent of ripples in water and a low table/high table, the unit was designed based on ergonomic insights to allow information to be shared on an equal footing no matter where one is located in the space. Its flexible combinations make it suitable for boardrooms as well as reception and communication areas where hospitality is important, creating a space with a sense of unity.
