ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) is pleased to announce that it has begun selling "giraffenap," a nap box that allows you to sleep while standing, developed by Hardwood Plywood Co., Ltd. (Head office: Asahikawa City, Hokkaido; Representative: Yuya Yamaguchi), which supports the well-being and productivity improvement of workers.

This product was commercialized under a license agreement with Hardwood Plywood Co., Ltd. for our open patent for nap boxes, "Structure for Containing the Human Body and Enclosure for Sleeping," and was announced in August 2023 and released in January 2024. Since then, we have received a lot of positive feedback. Currently, with the expanding range of working environments and work styles, we are expanding our product lineup, and the launch of this product is part of that effort.

Our open patent "Human Body Storage Structure and Sleeping Cabinet" supports the upper body, buttocks, and knees at three points, allowing you to rest or sleep while standing. The inventor got the idea from seeing people holding onto straps on trains, unable to stand up and get sleepy, and their knees "buckling". In the development process of this product, which was made of hardwood plywood, a four-point support structure was added to fix the soles of the feet, improving comfort.

Recently, management policies centered on well-being have been attracting renewed attention. Scientific knowledge that the quality of sleep and rest is directly linked to productivity and creativity is spreading, and in addition to encouraging appropriate rest within an organization, the introduction of nap systems and rest spaces is expected to attract attention in the future from the perspective of improving engagement and preventing turnover.

"giraffenap" is a nap box that supports these new initiatives. It comes in two types: "Spacia," which features a solid white color that evokes a futuristic image, and "Forest," which features natural wood that evokes the image of a forest. It is being used widely in office spaces, as well as in medical, childcare, and accommodation facilities.

In fact, they have been introduced in medical facilities to help night-shift workers get enough rest, and installed in staff rooms at childcare facilities. This allows employees to decide to take a break before their physical condition worsens, without having to endure sleepiness for too long, and by taking a short break, they can change their mindset and return to work smoothly.

This product also has an excellent design, allowing it to be installed without compromising the overall aesthetic look of the facility. It is designed to provide privacy while sleeping, soundproofing, and ease of maintenance, and can be installed in one day as long as the power source is available.

This product is scheduled to be exhibited at our working showroom, "ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE," from mid-August 2025.
