ITOKI expands its lineup of "Feels," a fireproof wood partition that uses natural wood to meet the needs of comfortable designs
A new lineup of double sliding doors with large openings, various fittings with transoms, various double-leaf doors, and horizontal joint panels that give a sense of depth to the space has been added, making it possible to design spacious spaces.
ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) will expand its lineup of "Feels," a wood-based fireproof partition that is suited to the use of wood in interiors, from Monday, December 9, 2024, by releasing new double sliding door types, transom glass types, valance door types, and sound-absorbing panel specifications.
Development background
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, office workers now have a variety of options for where and when they work, and work styles have changed dramatically. As a result, there is a growing need for offices to shift from being spaces primarily used for work, to being places for communication and collaboration, and to function and play a role as "places for human interaction."
To meet these needs, an increasing number of companies are designing offices that employees will want to come to by incorporating wooden furniture and other materials to create a comfortable atmosphere. In fact, at our Nihonbashi headquarters, ITOKI DESIGN HOUSE, the 13th floor, which was renovated in April 2023, was designed to increase productivity by considering the comfort of the people working there. In an in-house survey conducted after completion, approximately 70% of employees responded that "natural materials affect comfort." Furthermore, in a 2023 employee engagement survey, 75% of employees responded positively to the question "ITOKI is a company I can be proud to work for," and the internship application rate for 2025 graduates was +40% compared to 2024 graduates, making it clear that investments in such offices contribute to strengthening human capital.
The wood-based non-flammable partition "Feels" will be launched in December 2023 as one of the elements necessary for space proposals that respond to such comfortable designs. With a mixed structure of aluminum, steel and veneer, it is a wood-based interior material that can be used safely even under interior restrictions, just like existing partition products, and has been recognized in domestic and international awards such as the Wood Design Award (2023), Good Design Award (2024), and Red Dot Design Award (2024) for its high design quality and excellent workability, reminiscent of a unified solid wooden frame.
This time, we are adding a new lineup of twin sliding doors that create a large opening that smoothly connects two spaces, various door fixtures with transom joints for smokeproof compartments, various double-leaf doors, and horizontal joint panels that give the feeling of depth to the space, making it easier to plan the entire space.
Main features
- Double sliding door for large openings up to 3,600mm
This double sliding door has an effective opening of up to 3,600mm, making it ideal for hospitality spaces, showrooms, and other locations where many people enter and exit at the same time. When the door is fully open, two rooms can be used together to encourage the participation of many office workers, and when the door is fully closed, it can be used for closed meetings. Since it can be opened and closed with a simple movement, it is possible to switch spaces at 1/10 the speed of a sliding wall with the same width.
It also features a "soft close function" for safety and a "semi-airtight specification" to prevent sound leakage, and you can choose whether or not to have a lock.
- Various doors with transoms that also take smoke-proof compartments into consideration
To accommodate partitions above smoke-free areas, we have also added transom glass and panel door types to our lineup. This has also increased the flexibility of planning, allowing you to flexibly plan private rooms. We also offer a full range of double-leaf doors, and can accommodate plans that include a reception hall area with a wide opening. Doors can also be fitted with electronic locks while keeping the same design.

- Horizontal joint panels and middle sound-absorbing panels give the room a sense of depth
The panel has horizontal joints that create depth in the space with a design that is related to the horizontal bars of the glass panel. The middle section can also be made into a sound-absorbing panel, making it suitable for everyday web conferences and ideal for small private rooms. The sound-absorbing panel has a performance of 0.85 (500Hz)*, which shows high sound absorption performance and is expected to reduce echo and reverberation time in small private rooms.
*Measured using the JIS-based reverberation chamber sound absorption test
