ITOKI and Shiga Prefecture sign memorandum of understanding on mutual collaboration to attract and retain highly skilled foreign talent
Public and private sectors work together to enhance Vietnamese human resource development programs, support career development, and improve the Shiga brand
On Tuesday, July 9, ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) signed a memorandum of understanding with Shiga Prefecture (Governor: Daizo Mikazuki) regarding mutual collaboration in promoting industrial human resource development, with the aim of attracting and retaining highly skilled foreign talent. By promoting industry-academia-government collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Vietnam, we aim to enrich the human resource development programs and contribute to the career development of students at the university, improve the Shiga brand, and attract and retain highly skilled foreign talent in the future.
Background and purpose of the memorandum
We are developing products to realize new office and work styles that correspond to the rapid diversification and digitalization of work styles, and acquiring highly specialized human resources is one of our most important issues. Therefore, in order to acquire highly specialized human resources from overseas in fields such as AI and mechanical engineering, we held a signing ceremony for a confirmation letter for the conclusion of a partnership regarding friendly exchanges and highly skilled human resources with Hanoi University of Science and Technology in Vietnam in December last year, and in April this year, we held a signing ceremony for a contract regarding an internship program with the primary goal of expanding the range of career choices for the university's students.
In Shiga Prefecture, as competition to acquire human resources at a global level is expected to intensify in the future, in order to establish the "Shiga brand" as a place to work and live, on November 12, 2021, we signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding with Shiga Prefecture, Shiga Economic and Industrial Association (General Incorporated Association), and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and have been providing Japanese language courses at the university, exhibiting at job fairs, and providing short-term work experience for students at companies in the prefecture.
By strengthening their mutual collaboration as the two parties advance their initiatives with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Shiga Prefecture will contribute to improving the Shiga brand as a place to work, while our company will contribute to the enhancement of human resource development programs through industry-academia-government collaboration and the career development of university students, and ultimately to the development of the prefecture and companies within the prefecture through the acquisition and retention of highly skilled foreign talent. The memorandum of understanding for mutual collaboration was signed at the Shiga Prefectural Government Consulate by Shiga Prefecture Governor Mikazuki and our company president and CEO Minato.
