The adoption rate of hot desking has increased for five consecutive years to 80.2%. Office space per person is also on the rise

The percentage of offices that use hot desking has reached 80.2%, a slight increase from 79.4% last year. Additionally, the average office space per person was 9.34 m², up from 9.03 m² last year. With a trend toward emphasizing office flexibility and freedom of choice for employees, there is a trend away from office functions centered on individual work towards providing more spacious and diverse environments.

Changes in the adoption rate of hot desking

Conference rooms and reception rooms are becoming smaller. The number of single-person conference rooms has more than tripled from two years ago.

Regarding the size of meeting rooms and reception rooms, 37% of the rooms accommodate 4 or fewer people. In particular, the number of single-person conference rooms has increased from 5% in 2021 to 18%, more than three times the number in fiscal 2021, and we are offering private rooms for web conferences that take into consideration the sound environment and conference rooms suitable for meetings, collaborative work, etc. There is a tendency to install.

The installation rate of refresh spaces has increased by more than 10% in 5 years

The installation rate of refresh spaces was 86.8%, an increase of more than 10% from 76.6% in FY2019. A higher proportion of respondents installed a refreshment space within their office than a separate refreshment space as a private room, indicating that the open space within the office is used for multiple purposes.

``Strengthening communication'' and ``optimizing the office environment'' ranked first among issues addressed when constructing a workplace.

Regarding the issues they addressed when constructing their workplaces, companies that cited "strengthening communication" and "optimizing the office environment" ranked first with 95% of respondents. After the coronavirus pandemic, many people have become aware of the importance of real communication as telework has become more prevalent, and we can see that the necessity of offices is being reaffirmed.
