Development background
With the trend of hybrid work becoming more established and people returning to the office, the challenge is to create an office that employees want to come to, where they can work more productively and creatively. At Itoki, we believe that "comfort" is important in fostering a positive mindset among office workers and creating high-quality communication and collaboration, and that "wood" is one of the elements that makes this possible. Masu.
Since the 2010s, the company has been using the know-how and knowledge of wood-based office furniture production that it has cultivated through the efforts of the local materials utilization solution "Econifa" and the data of demonstration experiments on the effects of wood on office workers to create interiors and furniture. We have proposed creating spaces that incorporate wood. We have now developed a next-generation wood product group that will lead the trend toward wood in offices.

The effects of trees on office workers and empirical data
In 2021, ITOKI will conduct joint research with the Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute, the University of Tokyo Graduate School, and Nihon University on the effects of trees on office workers. In an actual office space, we used three types of large top tables made workers different materials: chestnut veneer, wood-grain melamine, and white melamine. We have scientifically verified the effect on the surface.
Empirical data shows that using a chestnut veneer table improves concentration and creativity the most, and reduces stress and anxiety, demonstrating that the use of wooden furniture in office spaces has a positive effect on office workers. The result was obtained.

▲Thick veneer chestnut wood has higher values for ``ease of concentrating on work'' and ``ease of coming up with ideas,'' and lower values for ``feeling of anxiety.''
ITOKI will continue to aim to create a society Vibrant People, Beautiful Planet. by making offices and furniture that utilize wood.
