Itoki opens new logistics bases "Itoki Tokyo Logistics Center" and "Itoki Tokyo BASE" sequentially from August 16th (Wednesday)

Smooth product delivery by rebuilding the metropolitan area supply network and respond to the 2024 logistics problem

ITOKI CORPORATION (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) will relocate its logistics base, ITOKI Tokyo Technopark (Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture), and open a new logistics base, ITOKI Tokyo Logistics Center (Soka City, Saitama Prefecture) on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, and ITOKI Tokyo BASE (Koto-ku, Tokyo) on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

“Itoki Tokyo Logistics Center” and “Itoki Tokyo BASE”

Background of logistics base relocation

ITOKI Tokyo Techno Park was opened in 2004 as a logistics base for deliveries to the Tokyo metropolitan area and eastern Japan, and has been in operation for approximately 20 years. As the "2024 problem" in logistics approaches as an urgent issue, we will disperse the functions of "Itoki Tokyo Techno Park" to "Itoki Tokyo Logistics Center" and "Itoki Tokyo BASE" and rebuild the supply network to the metropolitan area. By doing so, we aim to achieve a delivery efficiency of 130% (*Note 1) compared to conventional methods. Furthermore, we support the working environment of workers by designing office spaces that are efficient and comfortable.

Aim of opening new logistics base

``Rebuilding the metropolitan area supply network'' and ``responding to the shortage of human resources'' by establishing a base in Tokyo

By locating one of the two bases in Tokyo, it will be easier to access a wide range of customers, and by functioning as a relay base for production plants across the country, we will be able to shorten delivery times and expand our reach to the Tokyo metropolitan area. We aim to maximize delivery efficiency. In addition, by setting up a base in Tokyo, which has a large population, we can cope with the shortage of human resources. From truck transportation to freight transportation, we will continue to promote environmentally friendly transportation.

"Improving warehouse operation efficiency" and "reducing vehicle waiting time" by introducing a management system

Both locations will be equipped with a warehouse management system that manages everything from product arrival to shipment, and a berth management system that manages truck arrival times. In addition, the Itoki Tokyo Logistics Center uses many pallet racks, eases congestion on the premises with a double rampway for going up and down, and improves warehouse utilization rates by having a central ramp with a roof that allows work to be done in the rain. We aim to achieve efficient operation by reducing vehicle waiting time.

In an office that emphasizes communication, we design a space that is not only efficient but also comfortable to work in.

Because it is a base where both our employees and those of our subcontractors stay, we designed it as an office where they can work efficiently and comfortably, placing importance on the connection and communication among workers. The concept of "Itoki Tokyo Logistics Center" is "Connecting & Communication": one space is gently divided into areas by employing group desking, while a wide corridor is provided across the entire space to facilitate workers movement and encounters. Furthermore, the layout facilitates the building of relationships between departments and within and outside the company by providing a common meeting space in the central area that serves as a place for communication. Itochi Tokyo BASE, which will open in November, will also provide an office where both our employees and employees of affiliated companies can work comfortably.

Space design for comfortable work

Logistics base that is resistant to disasters, etc.

The relocated land is a flat area with little risk of heavy rain or flooding, and the building has a seismic isolation structure that is resistant to horizontal shaking. In addition, in the event of a power outage, power supply is automatically started and the minimum power consumption can be maintained for three days (8 hours of operation), minimizing the risk of disasters.
