Itoki develops a new type of display case "Artivista" that beautifully displays both space and arts and crafts, and delivers it to the Tokyo National Museum

It combines excellent airtightness and design, and the industry's largest opening provides a safe and comfortable working environment for curators who require delicate work.

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) has developed a new display case called "Artivista" that combines four features - design, presentation, operability, and protection of exhibits - to beautifully present the exhibition space and exhibits while protecting and passing on the art and crafts in an optimal environment. It has delivered the new display case to the Tokyo National Museum.

Artivista

Four features of “Artivista”

1. High design quality that harmonizes with exhibition space and arts and crafts

The highly transparent laminated glass is coated with a low-reflection coating to ensure that the original beauty of the artwork is not compromised. In addition, the lantern-shaped display case is almost entirely made of glass, creating a sharp design that makes the exhibition space and exhibits stand out.

2. “Performance” that brings out the charm of arts and crafts

Adopts organic EL (OLED) lighting (*1) to reproduce the soft light of candlelight, which is difficult to achieve with conventional LEDs. It also suppresses glare and shadows from exhibits, and creates a variety of light effects to match the exhibits and special exhibitions.

*1 Organic EL (OLED) lighting: A cutting-edge lighting source that emits light from a thin glass panel. It does not contain ultraviolet rays or infrared rays, has broad spectral wavelengths, has good color rendering (Ra93), and has performance that is suitable for lighting in museums and art galleries, as the light spreads widely and softly and does not cast strong shadows on objects. Not only does it provide base lighting that brings brightness to the entire area, but it can also be used as exhibition lighting from close to the work to create a beautiful display of exhibits.

3. Comfortable "operability" realized by Japan's first technology

The lantern-shaped display case uses an upper slide rail made of Japan's first extruded aluminum product developed by our company, and the front glass sideways slides to ensure safety while achieving a 90% opening. We have applied our unique technology to the table-type display case, and by adopting a glass hood lifting/lowering opening/closing system, we have achieved an opening of over 800 mm.
This will support the safety and comfort of curators' delicate work such as installing, moving, and maintaining exhibits.

4. “Protection of exhibits” through humidity control, air purification, seismic isolation, etc.

We use materials with minimal VOC (volatile organic compounds) for interior materials. It maintains excellent airtightness, and with a humidity control device and air purification device, it is possible to display, preserve, and manage arts and crafts in an optimal environment. In addition, the laminated glass used has an interlayer film sandwiched between two pieces of glass, which not only has security properties, but also has a thin seismic isolation base as an earthquake countermeasure. *Humidity adjustment device, air purification device, and thin seismic isolation base are available as options.
