ITOKI CORPORATION (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) participated in the 14th J-Credit bidding and sale held by the J-Credit Scheme Secretariat in May 2023, and won a bid for approximately 130,000 tons of J-Credits for renewable energy generation.

Carbon Offset

The J-Credit System is a system in which the government certifies as "credits" the amount of CO2 and other emissions reduced through the introduction of energy-saving equipment and the use of renewable energy, and the amount of CO2 and other emissions absorbed through appropriate forest management.
Carbon offsets (*1), which compensate for the portion of greenhouse gases emitted by corporate activities that are difficult to reduce by purchasing credits, are used to promote emissions reduction activities, introduce renewable energy and energy-saving equipment, and It is said that this will contribute to the return of funds to forest maintenance and conservation activities, as well as to the revitalization of the regions where these activities are carried out.

Itoki started carbon offset business in 2011 after participating in the 2010 Carbon Footprint System pilot project. As the need for J-Credit is rapidly increasing, as a J-Credit provider, we are working to help our client companies achieve their carbon neutrality goals, report on and utilize global initiatives, and utilize carbon offset products and services. We provide services such as providing a wide variety of credits and supporting their creation.

In recent years, as companies and organizations have increasingly taken steps to achieve carbon neutrality, demand has increased for credits derived from renewable energy that can be reported to international initiatives such as CDP (*2) and RE100 (*3). is growing. Under these circumstances, our company participated in the 14th J-Credit auction sale held last May in order to expand our inventory to promote the use of J-Credit in Japan.
As a result of the recent auction, we were able to successfully bid for approximately 130,000 tons, or about half of the total of just under 260,000 tons of renewable energy power generation credits that were sold through bid sales.

By delivering credits that meet various needs, we believe that we can contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by balancing the environment and the economy. ITOKI will continue to work on developing various services to revitalize the J-Credit system and realize a carbon-neutral society.
