ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshiro Hirai) will release the new "SAS-R" model of its shuttle-type automated warehouse system, "SystemaStreamer," which is designed to be faster and more compact.

Currently, the demand for the logistics industry is increasing dramatically due to the expansion of the online mail order market in line with changes in consumer purchasing styles, and labor shortages are becoming a serious social issue in all industries, regardless of the products handled. Furthermore, with the increase in more diverse, smaller-lot, and more frequent delivery services, logistics centers are being asked to not only handle the increased volume of goods, but also to provide high-speed, advanced operations.

In order to play a part in resolving these social issues surrounding the entire logistics industry, Itoki has completely redesigned its shuttle-type automated warehouse system "SystemaStreamer SAS," which it has a 35-year delivery record, into a new model, "SAS-R," based on the concept of faster speed and smaller size while maintaining stability and reliability.

*The shuttle-type automated multi-level warehouse system "SystemaStreamer" is a "high-speed buffer sorting device" that combines the high-speed storage and retrieval functions of products with temporary storage functions. It absorbs the difference in processing capacity before and after the process and sorts received products by purchaser, delivery destination store, etc., and then releases them in the order of priority.

With the SAS-R, we have made the dollies and reservoirs smaller and lighter, while also improving speed and acceleration and revising the control method, resulting in a 55% increase in processing capacity. In particular, the reservoir's processing capacity is now among the fastest in the world.

When considering the operation of a logistics center, there is a demand for smaller installation space and more efficient product storage. By reviewing the rack installation method, SAS-R has made it possible to reduce the installation space by 20%. Furthermore, by completely rethinking the design of the dolly, its dimensions have been reduced by 50%.

By reviewing the materials used in the components and reducing the amount of material used, we have succeeded in reducing the weight by 30%. As a result, by switching to a low-capacity motor, power consumption has been reduced by 40%. By reducing power consumption, the SAS-R contributes to reducing customers' running costs and protecting Planet environment through energy conservation.

By reviewing the production process at our own factories and securing inventory on a unit basis, the SAS-R has shortened the period from specification confirmation to the start of construction to two months (compared to four months for the previous model), thereby providing timely support for our customers' business expansion.
