ITOKI launches sound environment option for "Econifa/wooden interior system"

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Joto-ku, Osaka City, President: Matsui Tadashi, hereinafter referred to as "ITOKI") will launch "Forest Notes for Saltus," a new option for creating sound environments, in April 2014 for its "Wood Interior System Saltus," a product that uses local timber.

Saltas is designed using Econifa's wood interior system, which creates a wooden space in a corner of an existing office without the need for interior construction. It incorporates a sound system from JVC Kenwood Corporation's Forest Notes product, and by using a paid distribution service, you can listen to the sounds of forests all over Japan. This product and service not only allows you to touch the wood of the furniture, but also allows you to be surrounded by the rustling of the trees, the chirping of the birds, the sound of the rain, and more, creating a more relaxing office space that allows you to feel closer to the forest with all your senses, even while in the city.

This collaboration between JVCKENWOOD Corporation and ITOKI was born through ITOKI Tokyo Innovation Center SYNQA. By fusing the concept of Econifa, a solution that utilizes local materials, of "returning blessings to the local area by using wood in cities," and the concept of Forest Notes, of "proposing spaces where you can always feel the presence of forests and nature nearby," we aim to realize a world where people, nature, local areas, and Planet are more vibrant.

About Forest Notes for Saltus

We have incorporated the Forest Notes system into the wood interior system Saltus. The woodwork of Saltus itself vibrates and produces sounds such as bird calls, providing an environment that makes you feel as if you are in a forest.

Overview of ITOKI's "Econifa/Wood Interior System Saltus"
Saltus means "forest" in Latin. This product can be used to make the entire space wooden as "furniture" rather than as "interior (walls and ceilings)" which must be fireproof under the Building Standards Act. By adding options such as wall panels, shelves, lighting, and sound environment, you can enrich the space.
