Itoki Group's greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets certified by SBTi
ITOKI CORPORATION (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Minato) announces that the greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets set by the ITOKI Group have been certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as science-based targets (short-term targets) that are consistent with the Paris Agreement.
Based on its vision statement of "Vibrant People, Beautiful Planet." the Itoki Group has formulated a medium-term environmental plan to realize a sustainable society and has been working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a multifaceted approach that takes into account not only "decarbonization" but also "biodiversity" and "circular economy."
The greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets approved by SBTi this time are as follows:
・Scope 1 and Scope 2: Reduce by 42% compared to fiscal 2022 by fiscal 2030
- Scope 3: Reduce by 25% compared to fiscal 2022 by 2030
The Itoki Group will continue to seriously address environmental social issues such as climate change, resource finiteness, and biodiversity loss, and will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and the conservation of Planet environment by working to reduce the environmental impact through its business activities.
- About the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
SBTi is an international framework established in 2015 by four organizations: CDP, an international NGO involved in environmental information disclosure, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It encourages companies to set reduction targets that are consistent with the goal of the Paris Agreement (limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels), and reviews and certifies their validity as a third party.
