ITOKI invests in RFID location tech company RF Lucas Corporation
Started joint development of IoT-enabled office furniture using RFID location technology and an application to support advanced asset management
ITOKI CORPORATION (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) is pleased to announce that it has invested in RF Lucas Corporation (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Tomoyuki Asano), an RFID location tech company.
By attaching RFID to office furniture, we will realize IoT of furniture. We will improve the quality of "Data Trekking", a consulting service that utilizes office data. In addition, we will develop an application called "Office Asset Finder" (tentative name) that collects sensing data of office furniture, aiming to realize a new service that supports advanced asset management.

Investment Background
In our Workplace Business, we view Office 1.0 as the manufacture and sale of office furniture, Office 2.0 as a spatial solution provision business, and Office 3.0 as work style-based office DX through data utilization, and we are developing our business accordingly. In February 2024, we launched "Data Trekking," a consulting service that utilizes office data. In March of the same year, we started developing an "office design automatic generation AI service (tentative name)" with an AI startup company, focusing on the Office 3.0 field, where we have a strong competitive advantage.
RF Lucas has strengths in visualizing the location and movement of objects by combining its own advanced technology with "RFID," an automatic identification technology that uses radio waves to read and write information on IC tags. With the introduction of IoT in office furniture, we have strengthened the collection of office data and decided to invest in the company in order to use this data to develop new services.
Development Contents
The IoT implementation of office furniture will be made possible by implementing RFID technology in the furniture and pinpointing its exact location using RF Lucas' patented radio wave phase analysis technology. In the future, collected data on the location, history and usage of office furniture will be statistically accumulated on ITOKI's proprietary platform "OFFICE A/BI PLATFORM," which aggregates, consolidates and utilizes various office data, and will be combined with other office data such as space utilization data, employee activity data, and individual and organizational performance and condition data to improve the quality of "Data Trekking."

Furthermore, they will develop an application called "Office Asset Finder" (tentative name) that will utilize location identification technology and link it to Itoki's furniture database, including product information, to quickly determine the location of furniture. This will significantly reduce the amount of time and effort required for traditional analog inventory work on office furniture and other items, which previously took up a huge amount of man-hours and time during fixture and equipment management and renovation planning, and will aim to realize a new service that supports advanced asset management.

- Collected personal information will be encrypted and stored for security management purposes. In addition, during analysis, all data is converted to a different pseudonym ID and the data is handled in a way that individuals cannot be identified.
Comment from Koji Minato, President and CEO ITOKI CORPORATION

We are positioning the three years of our new mid-term management plan, which began this fiscal year, as the expansion and creation phase. This investment in RF Lucas marks the first step in the IoTization of office furniture. By proactively utilizing individual furniture data, we aim to improve the quality of "Data Trekking" and strive to build new business models for our customers' office operations. Please look forward to it.
Comment from Tomoyuki Asano, President and CEO of RF Lucas Corporation

Our company's mission is to "achieve a transparent society," and we are working to informatize the real world by using RFID to obtain data from objects that previously had no means of communication. In recent years, the use of RFID has expanded rapidly, and it can be used not only for inventory management but also for asset management. This capital and business alliance with ITOKI will expand the use of RFID to a new field, office furniture, and will be a step toward solving social issues more broadly and accelerating our business.
