About Kamakura Living Lab
In this era where we are expected to live to 100 years old, the aging of the population is progressing in many regions, and major changes to the very structure of society, including infrastructure, are urgently needed. Another open innovation activity being carried out around the world with the aim of solving various social issues is the "living lab."
ITOKI has been involved in the Kamakura Living Lab since its inception in 2017. In response to the voices of local residents in the Imaizumidai district of Kamakura City who said, "We want to make this a place where people of child-rearing generation want to live," ITOKI worked with Kamakura City Hall, the Institute of Gerontology at the University of Tokyo, and local residents over a period of about two years to develop telework furniture together with the residents. They had local residents actually use the furniture in their homes, and repeatedly carried out activities such as identifying areas for improvement, which ultimately led to the actual sale of the telework furniture. This activity won the Leading Award, an award for excellence, at the 7th Platinum Grand Prize in 2019.
About ITOKI's personal environment business
In addition to furniture for children such as study desks based on the concept of "creating a learning environment that helps children grow," we also provide study and SOHO furniture that accommodates the increasing number of people working from home due to the promotion of work style reforms, as well as living rooms and dining areas for families to share. We have a lineup of products such as furniture that suit a variety of lifestyles. Our unique products that decorate your personal space contribute to improving the value of your life.
