ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Joto-ku, Osaka City, President: Yoshiro FLIP FLAP Chair)'s FLIP FLAP Chair has won the Red Dot Design Award 2017 (Product Design category), making it the second recipient of a prestigious international design award following the Gold Award at the iF Design Award 2017. It has now won five design awards around the world.

The multifaceted design was born from the idea of origami and can bend in three dimensions to accommodate various postures. It is a new type of chair with a simple, linear structure that makes it easy to work for long periods of time without getting tired.

Comprised of three categories - product design, communication design, and design concept - designs that have been commercialized within the past two years are judged based on nine criteria, including the design's innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology, and durability.
