Selected as an excellent piece at Wood Challenge 2015

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Joto-ku, Osaka City, President: Yoshiro Hirai, hereinafter referred to as "ITOKI") has been selected as an outstanding piece in the "Wood Challenge 2015/Outdoor Wooden Furniture Category" sponsored by the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization and Nikken Sekkei Ltd.

Since 2010, ITOKI has been promoting Econifa, a new solution that utilizes local materials and leads the social trend of carbon solidification, connecting "mountains" and "towns." Econifa creates high-quality wooden spaces by utilizing local materials, mainly coniferous trees such as cedar and cypress, which are abundant in Japan, and using them for furniture and interior decoration, adopting sophisticated designs that suit urban areas. Econifa continues to propose designs that maximize the appeal of local materials while incorporating techniques and materials that are native to the land.

  1. The design allows users of various body types to sit comfortably and stand up easily.

    The combination of a slightly higher seat at 460mm and a sloping front end, along with a foot rest positioned slightly forward of the seat, allows you to sit in a comfortable position.

  2. Ingenuity for coexistence with wheelchairs and strollers

    There is no frame under either end of the seat, so there is no need to worry about the front wheels getting caught, and the corners of the seat are rounded so they are less likely to get hit, allowing you to get closer to your companion.

  3. To make it easier for more people to use

    There is no distinction between front and back, so you can sit on either side. The overall compact size means you can install multiple units in a limited space.

  4. We also think about you, the person doing the maintenance.

    There are gaps between the wooden pieces that make up the seat, which makes it difficult for rainwater, debris, and dust to accumulate.

  1. Easy assembly

    The table is made up of a tabletop and legs, while the bench is made up of a seat and legs. They can be easily assembled without the use of tools, by simply fitting the recesses and protrusions together by hand.

  2. Connect and use

    You can make a long bench by connecting multiple benches together. The middle leg parts can be shared. The one leg part that is no longer needed can be used as a one-person stool.

  3. Less storage space

    When not in use, the table top, seat and legs can all be stacked separately.
