Designed a next-generation "place of learning" educational environment and educational curriculum under the theme of "Practice of inquiry/collaborative learning/remote international exchange using the metaverse" and started empirical research on communication/group work in the metaverse environment.

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Minato Koji; hereinafter referred to as ITOKI) has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "FY2022 Project to Promote the Utilization of Advanced Technology and Educational Data with an Eye on the Next Generation of Schools and Educational Sites" for its project with Shizuoka Seiko Gakuin School Corporation (Location: Oshika, Suruga-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture; Chairman of the Board: Kudo Seiichi; hereinafter referred to as Shizuoka Seiko Gakuin) to design a learning environment in virtual and real spaces using the metaverse and to build an educational curriculum.

静岡聖光学院との実証研究プロジェクト

The ``Reiwa 4th Project to Promote the Utilization of Cutting-edge Technology and Educational Data with an Eye on the Next Generation of Schools and Educational Sites'' is a project that aims to advance the use of ``one device per person'' under the ``GIGA School Initiative.'' In order to effectively utilize cutting-edge technology and educational data that can be used in educational settings, in order to improve the quality of education and respond to new policy issues, with an eye on the schools and educational settings of the next generation. This is a project that conducts demonstrations, etc.

ITOKI has been conducting empirical research with Shizuoka Seiko Gakuin Academy with the aim of fostering the ability to explore, express, and communicate using digital technology, and this activity was recently selected as a national project by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The digital technology used is VR (metaverse) technology, which allows for "research presentations" where freely expressed results are presented without being bound by physical constraints, distance, or cost, and more than face-to-face meetings using avatars' gestures. We will conduct demonstrations under two themes: ``International Exchange Meetings,'' where you can have English conversation at will.
In the "Research Presentation", students design a metaverse space themselves, and create an environment where students can express themselves freely, including in ways that are difficult to express in real life, such as dynamic expression and bringing things that cannot be brought into the regular classroom. To do.
At the "International Exchange Meeting," students from Japan and other countries enter the same Metaverse space and use head-mounted displays to create a dialogue environment where they can use body language and feel a sense of distance from the other person.

By using the metaverse space, it is expected that new inquiry-based learning that uses students' free expression will be realized, and it will also be possible to realize interactive learning in a form that is close to real, using gestures and gestures with people who are far away. It is expected.

As a technology provider for this project, ITOKI will design requirements for the metaverse space, construct virtual classrooms, and design requirements for using head-mounted displays in classrooms from an educational perspective.
