ITOKI Shared Value and AUCNET sign memorandum of understanding to collaborate on building an "office furniture reuse distribution platform"

Reuse office furniture that would have been discarded and turned it into valuable material instead of waste

ITOKI CORPORATION (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Koji Minato) group company ITOKI CORPORATION Shared Value (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshitaka Yokoi; hereinafter "ISV") and Aucnet Inc. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinichiro Fujisaki; hereinafter "Aucnet") have signed a basic agreement to collaborate on the "Office Furniture Reuse Distribution (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Shinichiro Fujisaki, President and CEO; hereinafter "ISV") and Aucnet Inc. By combining Aucnet's expertise in building a secondary distribution network with ISV's knowledge of environmentally friendly businesses, the two companies aim to realize a recycling-oriented society in which office furniture is reused.

  • Background to the collaboration

ISV's core business is the effective use of office furniture, and it operates rental, sharing, and reuse businesses. This time, ISV was impressed by Aucnet's efforts to contribute to building a recycling-oriented society and reducing waste through secondary distribution that reuses and recycles still-usable products and unwanted items, and the two companies envisioned the kind of society they wanted to be, and with the aim of realizing this vision, they decided to build an "Office Furniture Reuse Distribution Platform" specializing in the reuse of office furniture.

  • About the Platform Business

The platform provides its members with an online auction system where reused office furniture can be traded. Companies and organizations that have office furniture that is still of usable value but is no longer needed can buy and sell through the platform, reducing disposal costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, companies and organizations that need reused office furniture can use the platform to gain convenient procurement opportunities. In addition, Aucnet's GCV (※) concept is used to visualize the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through secondary distribution, and feedback is provided to companies and organizations that exhibit their items on the value of their contribution to reducing environmental impact.

In the future, we aim to revitalize the secondary distribution market by utilizing information to create an even more convenient distribution infrastructure, build a system for external cooperation, and develop new services to help realize a recycling-oriented society.
